Enter a symbol in the Extended Hours Quote box to get a real-time quote* from the ECN. |
|
* This quote will be the best real-time quote for a stock eligible for trading during the Premarket session from the ECN in which Fidelity participates. Premarket quotes obtained from Fidelity.com will only reflect the prices available in the ECN, linked ECNs, and Nasdaq's SelectNet, when available. |
|
Select Order Book, and then enter a symbol in the Order Book Symbol box to get an
expanded view of the extended hours market. The Order Book quote provides a list of the current best ten matching
ask and bid orders for the security. |
|
The Time-in-force can be either Day or Immediate
or Cancel. |
|
There is no minimum number of shares and the
maximum quantity is 5000 shares. |
|
For immediate or cancel orders, the minimum
quantity is 200 shares. |
|
The trade type field only displays if you have a
Margin Agreement on file with Fidelity. When this field displays, Margin is selected. However, you can
change the selection to Cash. If this field does not display, the Trade Type for the order is Cash,
because Cash is the only applicable option. |
|
Do not select the Tax Lots Choose Specific Shares
field unless you want to specify the tax lot shares to trade as part of the order. If you select this
field, refer to After Hours
Session Specific Shares Order and begin with step 5 for further instructions. |
5. |
Click Preview Order to continue. Or, click Clear
to clear the order and start over. |
6. |
Review the order and make sure the information is
correct and do one of the following: |
- |
If correct, click Place Order |
- |
If not, click Void to return to the order entry
screen without placing the order |
7. |
After you place the order, you receive a
confirmation number indicating that the order was received. |
|
Tip: From your browser's File menu, select Print to print the confirmation.
From the Orders screen, you can select Details and use the order confirmation number and market session information to identify particular orders
placed during different market sessions. |
During a portion of Fidelity's After
Hours session, the ECN will have the opportunity to route orders to other ECNs and market makers for
execution via Nasdaq's SelectNet system while SelectNet remains open (currently, until 6:30 p.m.). After
Nasdaq's systems close, only those ECNs with links to the ECN will be accessible for order display and
execution. |
After
Hours Session Hours |
ECN orders in the After Hours session
can be placed from 4 to 8 p.m. Eastern Time. Between 4 and 8 p.m., Fidelity transmits orders to the ECN
and the transmitted orders are available for immediate display and execution according to the time
received and the specified limit price. |
After 4 p.m., Fidelity continues to
send orders to the ECN in the order in which Fidelity receives them until 8 p.m. Eastern Time unless
trading is halted prior to 8 p.m. |
In the event that an ECN becomes
unavailable during the extended hours session, Fidelity may submit orders to another eligible and
available ECN to maintain order flow. Thus, your order may be presented in any one of several eligible
ECNs. |
