Enter a symbol in the Extended Hours Quote box to get a real-time quote* from the ECN. |
|
* This quote will be the best real-time quote for a stock eligible for trading during the After Hours session from the ECN in which Fidelity participates. After Hours quotes obtained from Fidelity.com will only reflect the prices available in the ECN, linked ECNs, and Nasdaq's SelectNet, when available. |
|
Select Order Book, and then enter a symbol in the Order Book Symbol box to get an
expanded view of the extended hours market. The Order Book quote provides a list of the current best ten matching
ask and bid orders for the security. |
|
The Time-in-force can be either Day or Immediate
or Cancel. |
|
There is no minimum number of shares and the
maximum quantity is 5000 shares. |
|
For immediate or cancel orders, the minimum
quantity is 200 shares. |
|
The trade type field only displays if you have a
Margin Agreement on file with Fidelity. When this field displays, Margin is selected. However, you can
change the selection to Cash. If this field does not display, the Trade Type for the order is Cash,
because Cash is the only applicable option. |
5. |
Make sure to select the Tax Lots Choose Specific
Shares field. After the field is selected, you will see the Continue button instead of the Preview Order
button at the bottom of the screen. |
|
The Tax Lots Choose Specific Shares field is
available when you use an eligible account and select a valid action for the order. Valid actions for
stock orders are Sell and Buy to Cover. If the Tax Lots Choose Specific Shares field is not available,
click Preview Order to continue without specifying tax lot shares. |
6. |
Click Continue to display the Tax Lots Choose
Specific Shares screen. |
7. |
Choose lots from those listed under Specify Lots
by entering a priority number. Then, enter the number of shares to trade from each lot. Optionally, you
can manually enter up to three lots for lots that are held in your account, but are not listed. The
priority can be from 1 to 13, depending on the number of tax lots you choose and enter. |
|
Note that each priority number can only be used
once across all lots in both the Specify Lots and Enter Lots sections of the screen. For example, you can
have a lot with the priority 1 under only one of the Specify Lots or Enter Lots sections, but not
both. |
8. |
After you specify all tax lot shares, look at the
Review Lot Selection section of the screen. The total number of specified tax lot shares cannot be
greater than the total number of shares for the order. |
|
If you specify fewer shares than the total for
the order, the remaining shares will be traded using the First
in/First out (FIFO) accounting method. If you leave the order as is and continue, you see a warning.
You have the option to continue and ignore the warning. |
|
If you specified more tax lot shares than the
total for the order, the order cannot be processed. Review and adjust the number of specified tax lot
shares until the total specified shares is not more than the total for the order. |
9. |
Click Preview Order to continue. Or, click Void
to return to the order entry screen and start over. |
10. |
Review the order and make sure the information is
correct and do one of the following: |
- |
If correct, click Place Order |
- |
If not, click Void to return to the order entry
screen without placing the order |
11. |
After you place the order, you receive a
confirmation. You will see the order confirmation number and order information including the tax lot
shares you specified. |
|
Fidelity does not validate tax lot shares with a
Cost Basis Source of Customer and tax lot shares
you manually enter. Ultimately it is your responsibility to maintain accurate tax lot
records. |
|
The tax lot specific share information is also
printed on the confirmation you receive via U.S. mail or included in the confirmation you receive under Accounts & Trade > Statements* after an order
executes. |
|
* Confirmations are delivered online after you
sign up for the Electronic Confirmation Program. |
|
Tip: From your browser's File menu, select Print to print the
confirmation. |

and the transmitted orders are available for immediate display and execution according to the time
received and the specified limit price, unless trading is halted prior to 8 p.m. |
After 4 p.m., Fidelity continues to
