Overview
Option chain information provides detailed, real-time quotes for an underlying security or index, as well as the associated calls and puts.
To look up an option chain:
1. Under the Research tab, select Quotes.
2. In the table of contents on the left, select Priced Option Chain.
3. At the Option Chain entry screen, enter the symbol for the underlying security, enter the desired filter settings, and click the Get Option Chain button.
Learn about option chain symbol syntax.
From the Option Chain screen:
- Modify the Filter Settings to obtain pricing for the desired time frame:
Select the Option Class (Show)—calls, puts, or both
Select the desired Strike Price or use the system default to obtain all available prices
Be sure to enter whole numbers only.
Select the Date Range—choose a desired month range or select a month/year combination from the drop-down menu. The range is persistent, i.e., settings are saved until modified again. Note that a longer time frame yields more results, thereby requiring more download time.
Enter the minimum desired Trading Volume to display
- Once the results display, click the underlying security's symbol or a put or call symbol to get a detailed full option quote
- Enter a new symbol for another security, and click Update
- Click Trade to access the Trading screen with the option information populating the fields
