Option Chain Symbol Syntax
Most option chain symbols use the same syntax:
For example, the fictitious option chain symbol -ZZZLB is comprised of:
- a dash (-)
- the first three letters of the underlying security's name, which appear in place of ZZZ in the example
- a month code, a code for the month the option expires such as L for December Call option
- a strike price code, the price at which the option buyer may buy or sell the underlying security such as B for 110
