Closed Positions displays information about the closing transactions made in your account for the current and previous year. Positions display on Closed Positions only if they are no longer held in your account. You can view Closed Positions for non-retirement accounts only.
The Closed Positions view returns all closing events for positions closed in the specified year for the selected account regardless of when other closing events took place. Events occurring in years other than the year specified will be displayed if they exist in the positions found to have closed in that year.
While the information on Closed Positions is accurate and helpful, it may not be substituted for an official report or statement required by a tax authority. Go to Accounts & Trade > Portfolio > Statements to find the proper tax statements.
On the Positions tab, select Edit Cost from the Action drop-down box for the security you think is being reported incorrectly. This brings you to the Edit Cost screen, which displays those securities for which you can edit cost. The total number of shares that are eligible for updating is displayed in the Quantity field.
Closed positions information is not available to mutual fund accounts. Positions associated with an Equity compensation plan or Employee Stock Purchase Plan may be treated as ordinary income rather than a capital gain for income tax purposes.
