Venmo and your Fidelity accounts
At Fidelity we put your financial wellbeing above all else, which includes ensuring the privacy and protection of your Fidelity account data. That’s why we've established a secure connection that better controls how third-party websites and apps that you've authorized interact with your Fidelity accounts. We’re requiring those third parties to use this secure connection.
Who is affected by this change?
If your existing connection to Venmo is authorized through your Fidelity® debit card or linked directly via your Fidelity routing and account numbers, you will not need to re-establish your connection. Otherwise, you'll need to choose one of the options below and follow the steps before October 1, 2023, to maintain the connection between Venmo and your Fidelity accounts and avoid any disruption in service.
Option 1: Link your Fidelity® debit card.
The easiest way to continue to pay people through Venmo with your Fidelity account is to link your Fidelity debit card in the Venmo app.
- Open the Venmo app.
- Tap "Me" in bottom right corner.
- Select the gear icon in the top right corner.
- Tap "Payment methods."
- Tap "Add a bank or card." Tap "Card."
- Enter your Fidelity debit card number, expiration date, security code and ZIP Code (or tap the camera and submit a picture of your debit card).
Option 2: Link your Fidelity account directly.
You can establish a direct connection between your eligible Fidelity account(s) and Venmo using your routing and account number. This will enable money transfer to and from Venmo into your Fidelity account, the full functionality you have today. Follow the steps below to learn how.
