Jody Simes Biography

Jody Simes is a portfolio manager and sector leader in the Equity division at Fidelity Investments. Fidelity Investments is a leading provider of investment management, retirement planning, portfolio guidance, brokerage, benefits outsourcing, and other financial products and services to institutions, financial intermediaries, and individuals.

In this role, Mr. Simes manages the Fidelity Global Commodity Stock Fund, Fidelity Advisor Materials Fund, Fidelity Select Materials and VIP Materials Portfolio, and the materials sleeves of the Fidelity Central Fund, Fidelity Balanced Fund, Fidelity VIP Balanced Fund, FA Balanced Fund, and the Fidelity Series All Sector Equity Fund. As a member of Fidelity's Stock Selector Large Cap Group, he is also responsible for managing the materials sleeves for various diversified sector-based portfolios. Additionally, he manages both the global energy and global materials sector sleeves of the FIAM sector portfolios and analyzes stocks for the broader diversified portfolio management team. He is also responsible for managing the commodity-related equity sub-portfolio of the Fidelity and Fidelity Advisor Strategic Real Return Funds. He has managed the Global Materials Sector portfolio since 2006 and the Global Energy Sector portfolio since 2011.

Prior to assuming his current role, Mr. Simes co-managed the Fidelity Stock Selector All Cap Fund and covered the nonferrous metals, chemicals, and fertilizer sectors, as well as Canadian telecommunications and software companies as an equity research analyst. Previously, he was a member of the Equity Research group at Fidelity as a technology sector specialist, and a fixed income trader at Fidelity Capital Markets. He has been in the financial industry since joining Fidelity in 1993.

Mr. Simes earned his bachelor of science degree in finance from the University of Massachusetts and his master of science degree in finance from Boston College. He is also a CFA® charterholder.
