Sector Update: Tech Stocks Mixed Tuesday Afternoon

01:59 PM EDT, 04/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks were mixed in Tuesday afternoon trading with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) increasing 0.4% and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) shedding 0.3%.

The Philadelphia Semiconductor index rose 0.4%.

In corporate news, Elliott Investment Management has taken a position worth $1.5 billion in Hewlett Packard Enterprise ( HPE ) , Bloomberg reported. HP Enterprise shares climbed 4.2%.

Boeing ( BA ) jet deliveries were halted by China, along with purchases of US aircraft parts amid an escalating trade battle, Bloomberg News reported. Boeing ( BA ) shares fell 1.3%.

Amazon ( AMZN )-backed (AMZN) Anthropic is preparing to launch a new voice assistant feature for its Claude chatbot, almost a year after Microsoft ( MSFT )-backed (MSFT) OpenAI debuted a similar option for ChatGPT, Bloomberg reported. Amazon ( AMZN ) shares shed 1.8%, and Microsoft ( MSFT ) fell 0.7%.
