Exchange-Traded Funds, US Equities Rise After Midday

Broad-market exchange-traded funds IWM and IVV rose. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) added 0.1%.

US equity indexes rose in midday trading Monday as the trade tariff landscape evolved over the weekend, offering temporary relief to certain industries.

Energy

IShares US Energy ETF (IYE) added 0.6% and Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) up 0.4%.

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) rose 0.4%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) also advanced.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) was 0.9% higher, and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) edged up 0.2%.

Financial

Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) was up 0.9%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) climbed 2.9%, and its bearish counterpart, Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) dropped 2.7%.

Commodities

Crude oil shed 0.9%, and the United States Oil Fund (USO) lost 0.8%. Natural gas slumped 2.4%, and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) dropped 4%.

Gold fell 0.7% on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) dipped 0.7%. Silver rose 0.3%, and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) was down 0.1%.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) was up 1.3%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) also moved higher.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) was 0.7% lower; VanEck Retail ETF (RTH) rose 0.4%, and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) fell 0.7%.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) was up 0.4%, and iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) advanced as well. IShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) added 1.5%.

Industrial

Industrial Select Sector SPDR (XLI) climbed 0.6%. Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares US Industrials (IYJ) were also pointing higher.
