03:37 PM EDT, 04/07/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were lower late Monday afternoon, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) falling 1% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) dropping 1.4%.

In corporate news, major US airlines' 2025 earnings and revenue are likely to face pressure as President Donald Trump's tariffs on other countries increase the risks of a recession at home, UBS Securities said Monday. The brokerage now estimates Delta Air Lines ( DAL ) , United Airlines (UAL), American Airlines ( AAL ) , Southwest Airlines ( LUV ) , Alaska Air ( ALK ) and JetBlue Airways ( JBLU ) to all report lower bottom-line results for this year than it previously forecast. Delta shares rose 0.2%, United, American was up 1.8%, Southwest ( LUV ) added 0.8%, Alaska fell 1.6%, and JetBlue ( JBLU ) rose 1.9%.
