Taiwan says 59 Chinese warplanes, 23 warships detected around island

TAIPEI (Reuters) - Taiwan's defence ministry said on Thursday that over the past 24 hours it had detected 59 Chinese military aircraft and 23 Chinese navy ships operating around the island.

China on Wednesday announced the end of two days of war games close to Taiwan.
