Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Mixed Monday Afternoon

01:57 PM EDT, 03/31/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Consumer stocks were mixed Monday afternoon, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) adding 1% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) down 0.7%.

In corporate news, United Airlines (UAL) said Monday it received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration to equip its first aircraft with Starlink technology. United shares were down 2.6%.

Newsmax ( NMAX ) debuted on the New York Stock Exchange on Monday, after selling 7.5 million class B shares at $10 apiece in an initial public offering. Its shares surged 468%.

Tesla (TSLA) said it will offer interest-free, three-year loans for its refreshed Model Y vehicles in China before April 30, Reuters reported. Tesla shares were falling 3.8%.
