Equity Markets Rise on March Private Sector Growth Data

03:55 PM EDT, 03/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- US benchmark equity indexes are on track to close higher on Monday with an unexpected update of an accelerated increase in private-sector output growth in March.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1.4% to 42,582.67, while the Nasdaq Composite increased 2.2% to 18,175.9. The S&P 500 was up 1.7% to 5,765.5. All sectors posted gains.

Tesla (TSLA) was the top gainer on S&P 500, with shares up 11%. BYD's 2024 operating revenue of 777.10 billion Chinese renminbi ($107.20 billion) exceeded estimates and Tesla's revenue for the same year.

United Airlines (UAL) was up 7%. The company is increasing United Club membership fees along with pricing structure changes, according to multiple media reports, citing a notification sent to the company's customers.

Lockheed Martin ( LMT ) shares were down 1.4%. The company's unit Sikorsky agreed to a deal with Israel's defense ministry to integrate Israeli systems into 12 of its CH-53K Pere helicopters, Reuters reported, citing the ministry.

The 10-year US Treasury yield gained 7.8 basis points to 4.3%, while the two-year rate was up 7.6 basis points to 4%.

May West Texas Intermediate crude oil was up 1.4% at $69.24 a barrel.
