02:57 PM EDT, 03/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- US new single family home sales are expected to accelerate to a 680,000 annual rate in February, based on a survey compiled by Bloomberg, after falling by 10.5% to a 657,000 rate in January.

Sales would be above the 643,000 annual rate reported in February 2024.

The data are scheduled to be released at 10:00 a.m. ET Tuesday.

Supply of new homes for sale was well above its year-ago level in last month's report for January, while prices were significantly higher.

Recent mortgage application data from the Mortgage Bankers Association have shown that mortgage rates moved lower in February.

Home building data for February released on March 18 showed a surge in housing starts, but declines in both building permits and home completions.

The National Association of Home Builders reported on March 17 that builder sentiment trended lower in March due to economic uncertainty and concerns about increased tariffs that could further boost construction costs.

Single-family existing-home sales rose by 5.7% in February, but were down 0.3% from a year earlier, the National Association of Realtors reported on March 20.

The supply of single-family existing homes for sale rose by 17.2% over the same 12-month period, while the median sales price was 3.7% higher than the level in February 2024.
