12:59 PM EDT, 03/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The US Federal Communications Commission is probing multiple Chinese telecom companies, including Huawei and China Telecom, for allegedly avoiding restrictions on operations in the US, the Financial Times reported Friday, citing FCC chair Brendan Carr.

The probes cover ZTE, Hikvision, China Mobile International USA and China Unicom's US unit, the report said.

"Entities are trying to make an end run around FCC prohibitions by continuing to do business in America on a private or 'unregulated' basis," Carr said, according to the report.

The FCC didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
