05:16 AM EDT, 04/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- US President Donald Trump said Sunday he will reimpose tariffs on electronics imports from China this week two days after his administration announced a 90-day pause on 125% import duties on all Chinese-made goods.

"NOBODY is getting 'off the hook' for the unfair Trade Balances, and Non Monetary Tariff Barriers, that other Countries have used against us, especially not China which, by far, treats us the worst," Trump said in a post on his Truth Social account.

"There was no Tariff 'exception' announced on Friday," he wrote. "These products are subject to the existing 20% Fentanyl Tariffs, and they are just moving to a different Tariff 'bucket.'"

Trump said his administration will examine semiconductors and the electronics supply chain in upcoming investigations.

"What has been exposed is that we need to make products in the United States, and that we will not be held hostage by other Countries, especially hostile trading Nations like China," he said.

"We want to make our chips and semiconductors and other things in our country," he told reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday, news outlets reported.

He declined to say whether smartphones or other devices could be exempted from the stiffest tariffs. "You have to show a certain flexibility," he said. "Nobody should be so rigid."
