April 12 (Reuters) -

U.S.-based private equity firm KKR is nearing a deal to buy OSTTRA for about $3 billion, Bloomberg News reported on Saturday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The deal could be announced as early as next week, the report said.

Bloomberg initially reported that private equity firm GTCR was close to acquiring OSTTRA, a joint venture owned by CME Group ( CME ) and S&P Global ( SPGI ), for approximately $3.2 billion. However, the report was later corrected to say that KKR is in advanced talks to acquire the post-trade services firm for about $3 billion.

S&P Global ( SPGI ) declined to comment, while CME Group ( CME ), KKR and OSTTRA did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment.

Derivatives exchange CME Group ( CME ) and financial information company S&P Global ( SPGI ) were weighing a sale of OSTTRA, Bloomberg News reported last year.

OSTTRA was launched by CME and analytics firm IHS Markit in September 2021. (Reporting by Devika Nair and Harshita Meenaktshi in Bengaluru; Editing by Susan Fenton, Paul Simao and Marguerita Choy)
