Who can open a Fidelity Crypto® IRA?
You can open a Fidelity Crypto® IRA if you’re a US citizen over the age of 18 and reside in a state where Fidelity Digital Assets® can serve customers. Fidelity Crypto® for IRAs isn't available in California or Oregon.

Why do I need a Fidelity brokerage IRA to open a Fidelity Crypto® IRA?
To open a Fidelity Crypto® IRA, you must also have a Fidelity brokerage IRA with the same registration type that will act as a funding account. You'll use the linked Fidelity brokerage IRA to move money into your Fidelity Crypto® IRA for trading. If you don't have a Fidelity brokerage IRA, we'll open one for you at the same time we open your Fidelity Crypto® IRA.

What cryptocurrencies can I trade in Fidelity Crypto® IRAs?
You can buy and sell bitcoin, ethereum, and litecoin in Fidelity Crypto® IRAs.

Who custodies the cryptocurrency in my Fidelity Crypto® IRA?
All crypto assets held in Fidelity Crypto® IRAs are custodied with Fidelity Digital Assets®. Fidelity Management Trust Company (FMTC) is the IRA custodian.

What fees are associated with a Fidelity Crypto® IRA?
There are no fees to open or maintain a Fidelity Crypto® IRA or for custody of crypto. Fidelity Digital Assets® charges a spread of 1% on the execution price of crypto buy and sell transactions. A spread is the difference between your execution price and the price at which Fidelity Digital Assets® buys or sells digital assets to fill your order. Fidelity Digital Assets® will not separately calculate and disclose spread earned on the trade commission screen. Fees are subject to change.

Can I add beneficiaries to my Fidelity Crypto® IRA?
Your Fidelity Crypto® IRA beneficiary designation is the same as the beneficiary designation on your linked Fidelity brokerage IRA. You can manage beneficiaries from your Fidelity brokerage IRA.

What happens to crypto in my Fidelity Crypto® IRA upon my death?
The beneficiary designations for your linked Fidelity brokerage IRA will determine who inherits assets from your Fidelity Crypto® IRA. Spousal beneficiaries might have the choice to receive crypto assets into their own account if eligible. For spousal beneficiaries who can't or don't choose to receive crypto and for all non-spousal beneficiaries, the crypto held in your Fidelity Crypto® IRA will be liquidated and the proceeds transferred to your Fidelity brokerage IRA for distribution to that account’s designated beneficiaries.

What tax forms are provided for Fidelity Crypto® IRAs?
Fidelity Digital Assets® provides Form 5498 for Fidelity Crypto® IRAs to report year-end valuations and Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) status. Form 1099-R is generated only when there is a direct distribution from a retirement account. Contributions and distributions are reported on tax forms for the linked Fidelity brokerage IRA.

Where can I view the Fidelity Crypto® IRA Customer Agreement?
Access the Fidelity Crypto® IRA Customer Agreement through the Fidelity Crypto Agreements & Disclosures in your account profile on the Fidelity Investments® app and at the bottom of the account page on Fidelity.com. You'll also view the customer agreement when opening an account.

Can I buy crypto in a Fidelity brokerage IRA?
You can’t buy or sell spot cryptocurrencies in brokerage IRA accounts, but you may invest in spot crypto ETPs to gain exposure to crypto market performance. Fidelity Crypto® for IRAs provided by Fidelity Digital Assets® allows you to buy and sell cryptocurrencies like bitcoin and ethereum in traditional, Roth, or rollover IRAs.
Fidelity Crypto® is offered by Fidelity Digital Assets®.
Investing involves risk, including risk of total loss.
Crypto as an asset class is highly volatile, can become illiquid at any time, and is for investors with a high risk tolerance. Crypto may also be more susceptible to market manipulation than securities. Crypto is not insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation or the Securities Investor Protection Corporation. Investors in crypto do not benefit from the same regulatory protections applicable to registered securities.
