Schedule payments

You can schedule a payment for the future to help you plan ahead. Bill Pay makes it easy.

Overview

Scheduling upcoming future payments can help you pay bills on time by scheduling payments in advance.

What's the earliest date I can make a payment?

If your payee is able to receive electronic payments, Bill Pay can deliver your payment the next business day. Otherwise, your payment will be sent via check, and will arrive in about 5 business days.

When you enter an amount, Bill Pay automatically displays the earliest date the payee can receive the payment. You can either select this date or choose another. The date cannot be more than a year in the future (or 365 days from the current date).

Note: If you are making a payment from a 529 account, you select the earliest Withdraw on date, which is the date on which the funds will be withdrawn from your account. Based on this selection, Bill Pay will automatically display the corresponding Deliver by date, based on whether the payee accepts electronic payments or checks.

How far in advance of the due date should I make my payments?

You can enter a Deliver by date that matches the due date on your bill. The processed date is the date when the payee will receive your payment.

When is the money for the payment withdrawn from my account?

Except for 529 accounts (see below), the payment is withdrawn from your account as follows:

Electronic Payments

"Deliver by" date

Check payments

When the payee cashes the check and Fidelity is notified.

529

The money is withdrawn from your account on the date you indicate in Bill Pay. An electronic or check payment is sent the next business day. The funds for the bill payment amount will be withdrawn proportionately based on your account balances.
