Portfolio Positions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why is there no longer a menu on the left side of the Positions page?

A. The items previously in the left hand menu have been incorporated into the Select Action dropdown (next to your account number, see #7 on the New Features tab). Eliminating the menu has allowed us to include information that customers have requested on this page, specifically cost basis. It has also provided room for us to consolidate information onto two pages (Open Positions and Closed Positions) that was previously spread out over seven pages.

Q. How can I navigate away from the Open Positions page?

A. The Select Action dropdown next to your account number includes all of the items that were previously in the menu on the left side of the page. See #7 on the New Features tab.

Q. Why is the Action dropdown so far to the right?

A. The new Open Positions page combines the data from the old Current Values and Cost Basis tabs. With the combined columns on the page, Action is now a bit farther to the right.

Q. Why doesn't the column heading scroll with the positions?

A. This would be a great feature for customers with many positions, but was not included in this release. We will review the feasibility of this as a future enhancement.

Q. How can I reduce the amount of information on the page?

A. Some of the sorting features at the top of the page allow you to limit the display to an individual account or types of accounts (investment, retirement, and so on). You can also limit the display to certain security types instead of all positions. The +/- buttons next to each position (Symbol) also allow you to expand or collapse lot details on the page.

Q. How do I increase the font size on the page?

A. There is a font setting feature at the upper right of the page next to the Refresh link. The page defaults to the lowest font size, but you can increase it and save this setting.

Q. When I print the page, why does the last row get cut off?

A. We're working to make the page more printer-friendly and plan to address this issue in a coming release.

Q. Did we include customer input before we implemented the changes to the Positions pages?

A. Yes, enhancements to these pages were made based on customer feedback, including usability sessions in which actual customers were walked through use cases and consulted for specific feedback.
